On 13 July 2022, the Political Stakes of Cancer Network organised its first hybrid seminar at King’s College London. Entitled “Cancer in Africa: Anthropological Perspectives”, the seminar featured papers by two African early career researchers: Lesego Kgatitswe (University of Witwatersrand) and Sinenhlanhla Zondo (University of Strathclyde). Lesego spoke about how to develop and deploy an African feminist framework to understand the lived experience of women diagnosed with breast cancer in Kimberley in South Africa, while Sinenhlanhla discussed the extrinsic factors that affect patient access, referral and treatment of lung cancer in public health facilities in KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
