Short Video about the Cartographies of Cancer Project

We are excited to announce the release of a short video about our Cartographies of Cancer project. The video builds on our research findings as well as interviews with experts, which we carried out during our Workshop on the Hidden World of Cancer Cartography at King’s Science Gallery in November 2025. In the video, we discuss the project’s aims, key questions, and why understanding the histories behind cancer mapping matters today. In particular, we outline how our project seeks to understand how contemporary cancer maps are made, bringing to the fore the invisible and difficult work done by data collectors on the ground and pointing out how colonial histories continue to shape mapping practices today, particularly in Africa. Our thanks to Ben Haines and David Stevens, from the Communication Teams at King’s College London’s School of Global Affairs for carrying out the interview and putting the video together.
